421 Arts Campus is an independent platform dedicated to emerging artists and creative practitioners in the UAE and across the region. A site for research, learning and experimentation, 421 provides a nurturing environment for emergent creative practices and those who want to harness the arts as an agent for social inquiry and transformation.
Located in Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed, 421 presents a year-round program of exhibitions, talks, workshops, special events and educational initiatives that offer accessible learning opportunities to the wider community and the general public. Many of the 421 programs are organized in collaboration with local, regional and international partners, engaging children, students, educators, and creative professionals in a participatory approach to artistic and creative practices. These programs are designed to develop artistic and creative skills, supporting the growth of the UAE’s creative ecosystem.

مَجمع 421 للفنون هو منصة مستقلة تُعنى بالفنانين الواعدين والممارسين المبدعين في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وجميع أنحاء المنطقة. وبإعتباره مساحة للبحث والتعلم والتجريب، يوفر 421 بيئة ترعى الجماعات الإبداعية الناشئة وكل من يرغب في تكريس الفنون كعامل للبحث وتحقيق التحول المجتمعي. كما يشجع 421 الممارسين على استكشاف إمكانات المساحات العامة بوصفها وسيلة للتقدم والمشاركة المجتمعية من خلال نموذج منهجي واسع النطاق يتيح أشكال التبادل الفني والحوار النقدي.

Regionally Logical | تصميم منطقي
421 invites UAE and regionally-based designers, artists and creatives to submit their products to the Regionally Logical 2023 Open Call for a chance to be part of Dukkan421, our shop that is home to a wide range of design-led products and items. We encourage creatives and designers of all disciplines and backgrounds to apply, including those working with printed matter, publishing, jewelry making, textiles, ceramics, fashion, furniture and homeware design, photography and image-making, and children’s products.
Regionally Logical is part of our mission to cultivate and celebrate the region’s contemporary designers and creatives. We aim to nurture an appreciation for design by giving creatives the opportunity to showcase their innovation, artistry and craftsmanship through Dukkan421’s far reaching platform.
Applications to this open call are accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed by our team. Applicants will be contacted within four weeks of submitting their applications. Selected applicants will own the title and right to their products. Kindly note that works on canvas, paintings, and large-scale illustrated works will not be considered for the open call at this time.
Inspired by the architectural themes of 421 and our neighborhood of Mina Zayed, Dukkan421 reflects our commitment to supporting local and regional talent, featuring products carefully selected by the team, such as homeware, prints, stationary, accessories, and art books, as well as a variety of fun, educational products for kids, that are relevant to and reflect connections with our locale.
Selected applicants will own the right and title to their products. 421 will sell the products in our in-house store, Dukkan421.

"تصمیم منطقي" هي دعوة مفتوحة تشجع جميع أطياف المُبدعين للتقدم بطلب المشاركة، بدءاً من صُنَّاع الخَزَف وحتى الناشرين المستقلين، ومن مُصممي المنتجات وحتى صُنَّاع المجوهرات. كما تعد الدعوة جزءاً من مهمة 421 لغرس مبادئ التقدير لثقافة الإبداع والتصميم في المنطقة. تحفظ ملكية وحقوق منتجات المجموعة المختارة، والتي سيقوم 421 بعرضها للبيع في متجره الخاص، دكان421.
يعد دكان421 منصة مخصصة لعرض منتجات تعكس التزام 421 بدعم المواهب المحلية والإقليمية من خلال توفير مساحة للممارسين المبدعين للتجربة والتعلم. استلهم "دكان421" فكرة تصميمه من الملامح المعمارية المميزة ل421 وميناء زايد. وهو يوفر إصدارات محدودة حصرية وتشكيلة واسعة من المطبوعات والأدوات المكتبية والمنتجات الفريدة.

تدعم منحة 421 للبحث الفني البحث العملي الذي يحقق في الأسئلة الاجتماعية المعاصرة من خلال منهجيات متعددة التخصصات والمشاركة الفعالة مع مجتمع الباحث. وعلى الرغم من أن هذه المنحة ليست أكاديمية، إلا أنه من المتوقع وجود تفاعل قوي ما بين الموضوع والوسيط الذَين يختارهما المستفيد من المنحة، مع سياقهما التاريخي والجغرافي والفكري.
هذه المنحة متاحة لممارسي وممارسات الفنون في بدايات أو منتصف مسيرتهم المهنيّة وعلى الصّعيدين المحلّيّ والإقليميّ. كما تسعى المنحة إلى دعم البحث القائم على الممارسة والمستند إلى التّبحّر في المسائل الاجتماعيّة المعاصرة عبر منهجيّات متعدّدة المحاور وعبر المشاركة المجتمعيّة الفعّالة للباحثين. قد يتمثّل عمل الممارسين والممارسات الإبداعيين والإبداعيّات—على سبيل المثال لا الحصر—في الفنون البصريّة والتّقييم الفنّي، التّصميم والتّكنولوجيا، الفنون الأدبيّة، فنون الطّهي، الموسيقى، المسرح، و العروض الأدائية. تستهدف المنحة المواضيع الّتي تستقصي تقاطعات هذه المحاور ذات الطّابع الاجتماعيّ والثّقافيّ، كما في المساحات العامّة والعموميّة، في اللغات واللغويّات، في المواصلات وآليّاتها، في العمران وبنياته الاجتماعيّة والثّقافيّة، في الاقتصاد والنّزوح، في مؤسّسات الفنون، وفي النّظم الإيكولوجيّة.
في دورة 2025 من المنحة، يشجع مَجمع 421 على تقديم المشاريع التي تتناول قضايا البيئة وعلاقة الإنسان بالطبيعة، إلّا أنها ليست إلزامية.
ويشجع على التقديم الممارسين الذين تعتمد منهجيتهم البحثية على اللمس والتجربة، وتتضمن تجارب مادية على سواء مع التفاعل مع المجتمع، والذين تتجاوز نتائجهم الإسهام في الأكاديمية لتشمل الخبرات والمحتوى المتاح والأعمال الفنية التجريبية.
ويحصل المستفيدون من المنحة على ميزانية قد تصل إلى 75,000 درهم (خمسة وسبعون ألف درهم إماراتي) لدعم أبحاثهم ومشاريعهم
The 421 Artistic Research Grant supports practice-based research investigating contemporary social questions through interdisciplinary methodologies and active engagement with the researcher’s community. While this is not an academic grant, a strong interaction with the historical, geographical, and intellectual context of a grantee’s topic and medium is expected.
Open to local and regional early-to-mid-career creative practitioners, the grant supports practice-based research investigating contemporary social questions through interdisciplinary methodologies and active engagement with the researcher’s community. Creative practitioners can work through disciplines including but not limited to visual art and curations, design and technology, literary arts, culinary arts, music, theater and performance. The grant targets topics that investigate the intersections of these disciplines with social and cultural topics, such as communal and public spaces, languages and linguistics, transportation and mobility systems, urbanity and its social and cultural fabric, economics and migration, and art institutions and ecosystems.
In the 2025 edition of the grant, projects that engage with questions of ecology & humans’ relationship to nature are encouraged, but not mandatory.
Practitioners whose research methodology is tactile and experiential, and includes material experimentation alongside community engagement, and whose outcomes extend beyond contributing to academia to include experiences, accessible content, and experiential artworks, are encouraged to apply.
421 Art Campus will award a minimum of 2 grantees a budget up to AED75,000 ($20,380) each to support their research and project.
